Our firefighters are community-minded leaders who are committed to public service, and exemplify pride, professionalism, teamwork and respect. We are coachable and customer focused. Do you have what it takes to join us?

Application process:

  • Fill out application form
  • Supply current Drivers Abstract
  • Supply Criminal Record Check  with vulnerable sector check
  • Attend interview

                Successful Applicants become new Members

 New Members:

  • Receive Bunker Gear and PPE
  • Receive a time log book to keep track of time spent in training and emergency response.

New Members are assigned a mentor from a Senior Fire Department member, the mentor will assist the recruit with:

  • Introduction to the fire service and Legacy Regional Protective Services
  • Learning Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines(SOG’s)
  • Donning and Doffing gear properly according to SOG
  • Donning and Doffing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus(SCBA)
  • Learn the layout and locations of items on primary Engines

Completion on this part of the training is typically completed within 30 days. Once a mentor and recruit feel comfortable with the recruits skill level they arrange a demonstration of the skills with an Officer. At the Officers discretion the recruit is made a Probationary Fire Fighter.

Probationary Fire Fighters:

  • Receive a uniform
  • Are added to the dispatch system and are allowed to respond to emergency scenes where they are assigned duties under supervision of an Officer or senior member.
  • Continue to attend practices and training sessions as well as emergency scenes until they logged 200 hours, at which point they become a trained fire fighter.
